Mineola Lions members stand with a donates to Center for Developmental Disabilites and Long Island Bombers

The Edward Smith Mineola Lions Club recently donated $5000 to the Center for Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (“CDD”) to support their work with the developmentally disabled. CDD’s mission is help children and adults with differing abilities achieve their dreams by overcoming barriers to living, working, learning and enjoying recreational opportunities in the community of their choice.

The Lions Club also donated $2000 to the Long Island Bombers, a “Beep Baseball” team for the blind and visually impaired. The team plays competitive and exhibition games against other visually impaired teams in the metropolitan area. A major focus of the Lions organization is to assist those with visual impairments, and the Mineola Club is a regular donator to the Guide Dog Foundation, Sight and Sound Foundation, and other organizations.
