Taste of the Grape 2016
On Thursday May 19, The Edward Smith Lions Club hosted its 12th annual ‘Taste of the Grape’ wine tasting at the beautiful Hempstead Country Club in Port Washington.
The evening featured fine wines from renowned vintners and an extraordinary selection of food from many of Long Island’s premier restaurants including: Lareira Restaurant, Sushi Ya, Cardinali’s Pastry Shop, Maggiano’s, Brasa\Chama Rodizio, WatChuWan Wonton, Capital Grille, Cassariano, Calogero’s, Jonathan’s, Piccolo’s, Piccolo Bussala and Uncle Bacala’s.

2016 Honoree, Stephen Saloy
This year, the Club honored Stephen Saloy, a longtime Edward Smith Lions Club Member and a longstanding resident and business owner in Mineola. His company, William Saloy Inc. has been a part of the Mineola business community since 1939.
Giving Back to the Community
Throughout each year, The Edward Smith Mineola Lions Club raises thousands of dollars to donate to local charities that help the blind and those who run the risk of becoming blind and organizations or individuals that are part of our local community at large.
At this year’s Taste of the Grape, the Club proudly presented $12,000 to Winthrop University Diabetes Research Institute/Pre Diabetes Program, $11,000 to the Guide Dog Foundation and transportation van to Helen Keller Services.
